The government of South Africa has announced a state funeral for Winnie Nomzamo Madikizela-Mandela, former wife of the country’s first black president, Nelson Mandela.

Christian Gomez, 23, (pictured left) has been arrested for decapitating his own mother’s head with an axe on New Year’s eve at her home in Tampa because she asked him to put some boxes away, Florida police say.

17 year old Leelah (Josh) Alcorn committed suicide on Sunday December 28th by walking in front of a tractor trailer and left a suicide note before he died. But when her mum reacted to her death on Facebook, she wrote something that many folks in the gay/transgender world are very upset about. According to Police report, Veronica J. Rutledge, 29-year-old woman was shot dead by her 2-year-old son while they shopped on Tuesday morning, with her four children at a Walmart electronics department. Lanre Falodu, 24-year-old, hanged himself in a church premises in Owo area of Ondo State, where he was taken for deliverance.
