A female suicide bomber said to be about 10 years old blew herself up killing at least 10 others at the popular Maiduguri poultry market in Borno state around 12.30pm today. A military source who confirmed the explosion said the little girl strapped herself with explosives that were so heavy that after it exploded, flung her body 500m away from the scene. BBC has reported that over 2000 people may have been killed by Boko Haram militants in a fresh attack on Baga town in Borno state yesterday January 7th. A state official in Borno state, Musa Alhaji Bukar told BBC that bodies lay scattered on Baga streets and that the whole town has been destroyed. Sahara Reporters reports that Boko Haram militants may have kidnapped 18 female soldiers in Baga in Borno State. Report below:
Two sources told SaharaReporters that, out of 26 female soldiers posted to the military base of the Multinational Joint Task Force, only eight have so far been accounted for. The commander of the troops in the area, Colonel Kuti, has also not been found since the insurgents attacked the town on Saturday. Residents of Baga told our reporters that Boko Haram insurgents invaded their town and killed at least 55 people, including soldiers attached to MNJTF.
A report from a Cameronian investigative journalist, Etahoben, members of Boko Haram are currently engaging Cameroonian soldiers in a gun battle at Doublé and Magdeme communities, up north in Cameroon. The 13-year-old suicide bomber who was arrested has told her own side of the story. She says she did it under duress, after her parents dropped her at the Boko Haram Camp. According to the Nigerian Tribune, she was arrested in a hospital where she was being treated after a commercial tricycle operator alerted security agents that a female suicide bomber dropped an unknown exhibit in his tricycle. At least 15 people have been confirmed dead after a bomb went off at the Dukku motor park in Gombe state this morning Dec. 22nd. The blast occurred around 11am when passengers traveling for the Christmas holiday were in the park.

Boko Haram released a video yesterday, in which they beheaded a man they claimed was “the pilot” of the “missing fighter Jet”.The military has doubts that the man killed was actually one of their pilots.
A spokesman for the Nigerian military, Air Commodore Dele Alonge told AFP:
