Parents who kept 12-year-old son in squalid home where he got “Blind,” jailed for neglect!
Craig Dick and Gillian Hendry, both 34, has been jailed for keeping their children in squalor because they were ‘too busy’ to take him for appointments that could have saved his sight.. One of their son, 12-year-old, got blind in his left eye, after they failed to take him to hospital appointments for six months, for the treatment of his cataracts and his arthritis, the boy and his sister were kept in a filthy house, by the Couples, in central Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, littered with rotting food and dirty nappies.
At Teesside Crown Court, the Couples claimed that they were ‘too busy’ to notice his eye had gone white, and previously told police and social workers that they never looked the boy in the face.
Gillian Hendry and Craig Dick, both 34, were jailed for a total of five years at Teesside Crown Court for child neglect after their son went blind in one eye.
