The Man who Impersonated himself as KAI Officer, Caught in Ojota!

The Man who Impersonated himself as KAI Officer, nabbed

Mr. Shola Onabanjo, 43, was arrested today 1st September, 2014 in Ojota, Lagos; for impersonating and extorting money from motorists, with his fake KAI identity card. The law enforcement unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment, Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI Brigade), got the information about Onabanjo’s activities and mobilised its officers for his arrest.

The suspect who was not in KAI uniform at the time of his arrest allegedly demanded N1,000 from a yam seller named Amodu Sulaimon, who was pushing a wheel barrow with some tubers of yam in the area.

Recounting his ordeal, Sulaimon told newsmen that Onabanjo had been extorting money from him and other yam sellers for a long time at Ojota, and assuring them that they would not be arrested by any other KAI official in the area if each of them paid him N1,000 daily.

The bubble burst on him when the KAI patrol vehicle noted that a trader selling tubers of yam at Ojota refused to move away from the spot after being ordered to vacate the place. This brazen act of insubordination led to the arrest of the yam seller who later pointed at Onabanjo, who had given him the mandate to remain at his selling spot.
